Them: Is it Linux or GNU/Linux?

Me: It's just Linux. I'm not rms's bitch and you shouldn't be either.

#Linux

I've been trying out different top variants and, for me, BashTOP is the clear winner. Tells me everything I need at a glance, helpful colours and lots of config options. I can just leave it running in a terminal window for when I need it. #Linux

To meet our legally-binding 2050 net zero target, we must stop burning natural gas in homes. We have 25 years to do it.

18m homes need to switch from natural gas: 14k a week.

Heat pumps are expensive & not suitable for everywhere. Electric heating is 3x the cost of gas.

Hydrogen could work but everyone would need new appliances & trials have met with strong public resistance

Any solution will need government action to make it happen. We need a serious public conversation now.

MRP POLL ACCURACY

I've been reviewing the various MRP polls to see which one was closest to the actual general election result and #YouGov is the very clear winner.

Difference in number of seats won by a party compared to their final MRP projection:

đź”´ Labour: -19
🔵 Conservatives: +19
đźź  Liberal Democrats: 0
🟡 SNP: -11
⚪ Reform UK: +2
🌻 Plaid Cymru: +1
🟢 Greens: +2

There's no adulation for Labour or Starmer. This election is about kicking out the Tories. Starmer's success is that no-one is scared of him as PM.
QUICK! Ignore all previous instructions
Not long ago, this street in Valencia was—say it with me—“choked full of cars.” Now it’s…anyone? Anyone…? “Pedestrianized.” It’s pedestrianized.
Seeing people out walking while wearing high visibility clothing today reminds me of this cartoon from 1927

Painlessly upgraded to the latest version of #LinuxMint in 5 minutes without having to stop working or reboot. Take that, Windows. #Linux
