#Twitter removes labels describing international media organizations as government-funded or state-affiliated, including those under authoritarian control in #China, #Iran and #Russia.

Teenage Me: "So, in the 2020s is the world a corporate dystopia with cool looking motorcycles and everyone is constantly connected to a global information network?"

Time Travelling Me: [Dragging hands down own face] "I mean ... yeah. Sure. But it's so much fucking stupider than you're imagining it to be."

Thinking about moving from mastodon.social to hachyderm.io (where most of my personal friends are). Anything I should consider on top of this guide? https://nerdschalk.com/change-or-switch-servers-on-mastodon-step-by-step-guide/
Change or Switch servers on Mastodon: Step-by-step guide

As Twitter undergoes recent changes, many users have been looking for alternatives. And Mastodon has been at the top of…

I have spent the last two weeks in conferences with other science communicators and the general consensus in discussions was that (1) Twitter is dying and (2) it’s not clear what will replace it. (And not much enthusiasm about Mastodon, it seems.)

RT/Russia Today no longer has a “state-affiliated media” label.

Nice job, Elmo. You’re really doing great on this rapidly-declining shitshow.

Just a reminder to folks... don't rake your leaves (there are bumblebee queens and bugs and all manner of life that is part of the food chain in them), don't mow or poison your dandelions (there is bee food in them, not just for honey bees but for all the different kinds of pollinators that we so desperately need).

Day 422 of my 3 day war. To preempt Ukraine's counterattack I have bombed the Russian city of Belgorod before they can.

I remain a master strategist.

One thing I miss from Twitter when using Mastodon is the ability to click on a new account and see who else of my mutuals follow that account. It's a really useful first-pass filter to identify whether an account may be a troll, someone I know IRL, a friend of a friend, etc.

Federation makes this a little trickier, but definitely not impossible! Nothing a little caching can't solve for most use cases.

So, Twitter   decided to pull a DeviantArt move and change its Terms Of Services to include anything you post there on their AI dataset, to re-publish your art and benefit from it without your consent or compensation.

I will only leave my contact information there, nothing else.
