I try to build an app I need/want for every platform I live on.
When I was on macOS, I built with AppKit and built apps for iPhone with UIKit. I enjoyed it immensely and even spent a sizable portion of my career writing apps for both platforms.
I switched to Windows 11 a few years ago for gamedev/career and attempted to build an app or two, but Microsoft gives no real clear direction on how to build apps. WinForms? Eh, maybe. Hard to swallow if you want to use unmanaged C++/don't want to go C#. There's some XML UI stuff that seems somewhat supported, but not to build modern Windows 11 apps. A lot of forums say "idk use Flutter? Qt is an option?" I just could never get any thing going.
When I came home and a Windows 11 update shit Copilot *everywhere* I made the call to switch full time to Linux. In the last two weeks I've built an Adwaita/GTK app and am *loving* it.
