*to* is fairly common for conversion/parsing functions (atoi, btoa, etc) so mbsrtowcs and wcstold are that, where wcs is "wide-char string" and the others idk what they are. wcsoll is a scary one because wcs is a C thing but I have no idea what oll should mean. I'm gonna say it's probably Welsh.strxfrm sounds like a formatting function but I've never heard of it. probably C.rhowch, wmffre, mwyn, are definitely all Welsh@R1Rail @skrzyp @gsuberland Huh, everything here that's not Welsh is C from `<stdlib.h>` or `<char.h>`?
In modern and higher level C++ you'd just use `std::string` instead.
std::lib is NOT C stdandard library but C++ standard library.
C standard library (as defined by ISO C) is described at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C_standard_library
thus eg mbstrtowcs is C++ and not C
Are you kidding me? I really don't want to get too confrontational, but did you even bother to read /at all/ what I wrote or even what the link says you posted? Stop throwing words and phrases like "as defined by ISO C" around you clearly do not understand.
Let's try bullet points if long sentences are too troublesome:
* You just brought up `std::lib`, I didn't.
* I brought up `<stdlib.h>` which is literally listed in your Wikipedia link
* The current working document for the ISO C standard is here: https://www.open-std.org/jtc1/sc22/wg14/www/docs/n3220.pdf
* Chapter 7 is for the C standard library in a "hosted" environment and 7.24 concerns the header `<stdlib.h>`.
* Its 8th subsection concerns "Multibyte/wide string conversion functions"
* Its first entry is the `mbstowcs` function
I really don't like being harsh/rude -- but what I like less is people who have no fucking clue, do not bother to educate themselves, nor care to read what the others wrote. But instead throw around terms they've picked up somewhere and being a smartass (while wrong) about it.
Take a few steps back, breathe, and think twice next time before writing such clueless bullshit.
@ljrk @R1Rail @gsuberland guys I’ve just posted a random funny meme from my gallery which was supposed to be relevant in context of the original post and now I’m getting notifications forever
and then some drama stirred up in subthread
don’t make it more complicated please :D
@stufromoz @skrzyp @gsuberland see this is why I’m so great at debugging.
Or, as we call it, gwych am ddadfygio.
@skrzyp @gsuberland @dec_hl Accessibility description: A screen with words on it titled "Welsh or standard library function". The words are:
mbsrtowcs
rhowch
strxfrm
cwtch
mwyn
wcstold
wmffre
wcsoll
@skrzyp
Welsh = all vowels; stdlib = all consonants
No, I will not check whether this rule applies to the actually posted words
