Gaming-centric account. My "real" world account is at mlabowicz@bigshoulders.city

I'm into #steam gaming on my #steamdeck and my #ubuntu #linux home computer. I like many different types of games including #fps, #openworld survival #grandstrategy and #metroidvania games. I also enjoy playing #boardgames with others, especially #strategy games like #Scythe

Sometimes when I get cut and see blood I hear the HEV voice in my head: "minor lacerations detected."
Remembering Descent, the once-popular, fully 3D 6DOF shooter
Descent is a big part of gaming history, but not many people talk about it.

How I'm feeling these days #gaming

#0ad is possibly one of the most advanced #foss games. It's a multi-platform #RTS historical #game, and there's currently an appimage for #Linux users found at #github (in case #flatpak isn't to your liking).

Plays really smoothly, although it eats my 2015's #Macbook Air's battery (running Linux #Mint) for lunch. We're talking that it has about 30 minutes of overall #gameplay before I need to recharge. CPU utilization is at about 50-60%. @play0ad

Last night in #valheim I took another break from the Ashlands and started to try to find the Bog Witch. I read online that she was in a swamp biome, so I started looking for unexplored swamps.

I ended up exploring two locations, fighting two abominations (relatively easy with my gear), several wraiths and a whole mess of draugrs, etc. Alas no bog witch was found.

My fire mead finished brewing during my excursion so I'll probably head back into the Ashlands next time #linuxgaming #steamdeck

Tonight in #valheim, I paused further exploration of the Ashlands while fermenting some fire resistance potions. I took the opportunity to explore a bit of the Mistlands that I haven't seen before (still find the mountains very annoying to traverse) and shoring up one of the sides of my Ashlands base with earthen walls. I hear these are better than stone at withstanding serious enemy attacks. Planning to do the same on the other side tomorrow. #linuxgaming #steamdeck

Finally making some progress in #valheim despite running into a crazy gauntlet of mobs on the way to the flametal sources in my world. At one point I was fighting two fallen valkyries, a Morgen, an askvin and a bunch of charred. It's like the game knew that I was next to something useful and amped up the difficulty! Despite that, I was able to mine some metal and made a great looking flametal helm. Now I feel like a badass 🤘 #linuxgaming #steamdeck

Here's a little reminder for what I see a ton of people forgetting...

Go and use protondb.com:

'...𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘥𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘹 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘋𝘦𝘤𝘬 𝘨𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘴"

Search your game in the field and sort by #Linux or #SteamDeck results and you'll find exactly how users have found games will run. They list their settings and workarounds (𝘪𝘧 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘥) to get the best out of the game.

An unbelievably helpful resource for Linux #gaming of all kinds!

@dosnostalgic that cockpit lighting is chef's kiss
@dosnostalgic Oh my gosh, I've dreamed this for far too many years!
@dosnostalgic impressive, but since I’m getting old, all these lighting effects and high resolutions just make things difficult to see for me. 👴🏻 I like the original, untextured version which was brightly lit and since the pixels were quite chunky back then, even ships at distance was easier to see and felt closer. 📺

@dosnostalgic I spent very many hours in the cockpits of X-wings, Y-, B- and A-wings...
I also was copilot when my friends played because the control of the ships were advanced! Redistributing power from weapons to engines or shields, using the targeting computer, etc.

Exciting to keep an eye on this project. I have the original CD-ROM 🤩
