Gaming-centric account. My primary, "real world" account is linked below.

I'm into #steam gaming on my #steamdeck and my #ubuntu #linux home computer. I like many different types of games including #fps, #openworld survival #grandstrategy and #metroidvania games. I also enjoy playing #boardgames with others, especially #strategy games like #Scythe

Currently playing #TheLongDark survival mode and making regular recap posts from my gaming sessions

If you own a #SteamDeck (or are a #Linux gamer in general), 𝘥𝘰 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘵 ProtonDB!!!

I've come across so many users lately who are shocked when I tell them that this exists. It is just a site where users can share their experiences, settings and recommendations on games they play. You can search a game and filter the results by PC, Steam Deck and even the #Chromebook to see everyone's rec's

Here's BioShock Infinite as an example:

Really, invaluable for #gaming now

Recently I've been playing #balatro and the single player campaign in #TheLongDark, so I haven't been posting recaps from my #TheLongDark survival mode play through,.. I may come back to it eventually, but needed a change of pace for now.

Hard to argue with the points the author makes, but I'm still interested given my heavy investment in the #steam ecosystem, and my fondness of #Linuxgaming.

I think a better play would have been for #valve to develop the #steamdeck2 and the #steammachine at the same time, and have them share their internals. This would have resulted in a lower power machine, but at a more accessible price point, and it would still have been good enough for couch co-op and lighter games

Valve already lost me on the Steam Machine, and now I don't even know who it's actually for

I'm struggling to see how the Steam Machine could succeed as a PC or console

Today in #TheLongDark I decided to explore around the farmhouse. I was able to find a rifle, some bullets and a deer carcass. The rifle will be especially handy since I left my other rifle in my safehouse in Coastal Highway, and there are cougars and bears about in this region.

On the way home, I ran into a blizzard, which lasted for longer that I would have liked. I had to limp back home in darkness after it ended with a wolf on my tail.

Today in #TheLongDark I explored the Farmhouse in Pleasant Valley. As expected it was full of loot. I also appreciated that it has a large stove and a workbench, which makes it a better HQ than the Community Hall in Thompson's crossing.

I need to decide whether or not I should go through the trouble of moving all my gear to this house, or if I should just maintain two safe houses in this region.

Lots more exploring left to do in this area, so I may just keep both.

Today in #TheLongDark, I spent some more time exploring Pleasant Valley, concentrating on some caves near the community hall safe house that I setup. Didn't find much of anything, so it was kind of boring. At one point I did get a bit too close to the cougar territory, and I thought I heard some new sounds.... which made me quickly change course and head back home.

I'm feeling like I need a bit of a change of pace, so I may play through the single player episodes for a while.

Today in #TheLongDark I explored the rest of the town near Thompson's crossing, which included a cool looking church. I also ventured out to the barn and brought its loot back to my community hall safehouse.

Nothing really notable in today's haul, a few bullets, random clothes and food.

I ran into a wolf on the way home and decided to give it a bit of a scare with my flare and a revolver shot, which hit its mark. The wolf ran off bleeding, I'll probably come across it later

Today in #TheLongDark I explored more of the town near Thompson's Crossing in Pleasant Valley, and setup shop in the community hall. I'm appreciating the ample storage and the six slot stove. I've also managed to find 3 pots and a pan, which will make cooking and melting/boiling water much easier!

Next time I plan on exploring the rest of the town and eventually heading over to the barn and farmhouse. I'll eventually have to decide where to make my safe house in the region.
