Gaming-centric account. My "real" world account is at mlabowicz@bigshoulders.city

I'm into #steam gaming on my #steamdeck and my #ubuntu #linux home computer. I like many different types of games including #fps, #openworld survival #grandstrategy and #metroidvania games. I also enjoy playing #boardgames with others, especially #strategy games like #Scythe

game: now you need to kill this man

gamer: *kills the man*

game: look what youโ€™ve done. his children are now orphans

game journalist: an emotionally resonant work that explores the power of our own decisions and their consequences. this wouldnt be possible in any other medium

The #Valve #SteamDeck is serving:

One of my biggest #retrogaming issues is re-releases seldom include the manual. The actual, printed, full-color manual with art, maps, diagrams.

Players were expected to read the manual before playing from at least the NES era to PS2 era, and a lot of description/story is simply not in the game as a result. Looking up a strategy guide is not the same.

Sony got this right with #PS1 games on #PSP but I haven't ever seen it done again.

Played some #playstation3 with my kids today since we were feeling a bit lazy and didn't have plans for the morning.

I lost a close game of #Madden2013 between the #ChicagoBears and #NewEnglandPatriots. It was a blast playing with Jay Cutler, Forte, Urlacher vs. Tom Brady and Co. Ultimately it came down to a goal line stand.

After that we played several rounds of #CallofDuty4 split screen. That game still holds up well to modern shooters graphically and gameplay wise.

@killyourfm I'd be even more excited about a smaller, thinner arm based steam os handheld, kind of like a switch lite. The current crop is too big to carry around comfortably and the battery life is very limited. That said, I still love my #steamdeck for couch gaming at home

#SteamReplay for 2025. I didn't get as much gaming in as I wanted as it was a busy year with travel and work. Next year I'd like to finally get through the #ashlands biome in #valheim and maybe give #witcher3 or #fallout4 a playthrough
Helldivers 2 devs slash install size from 154GB to 23GB, thanks to the help of PC port veterans โ€” ditching HDD optimization, 85% size reduction accomplished by de-duplicating game data

PC players can now opt into a slim version thatโ€™s 85% smaller.

Even with lower specs, the Steam Machine will be highly competitive against Microsoft's next console thanks to Valve's two unique advantages, says Rob Fahey: Steam itself, and the "unsung hero of PC gaming disruption", SteamOS.

Valve's dramatic return to hardware isn't just a blow to Microsoft and a challenge to Sony's dominance; it's the fruit of a decade of fastidious work

I'm so excited about the steam machine and new controller, it's not even funny. It's like they built a console with me in mind. The VR headset, TBD.
