Never quite know what will grab my attention. I’ve moved on from just agreeing that climate change will drastically affect the next generations and am actively looking at ways to build resilience and support each other. My generation has to hold its hands up and admit we failed to prevent this. Sorry kids. Going to spend my remaining time enjoying the best of humanity not the worst - art, cooperatives, writing, music, history, film (I should have just said arts), random stuff, etc. He/him

My friend who's a programmer and textile nerd has very clearly identified how closely this crap mirrors early industrialization of textiles in the UK. The loss of quality, the loss of knowledge, how craftsmanship is being undervalued... we've tied so much of society to tech and we're about to take a huge hammer to the very delicate infrastructure of it, and create new infrastructure that is designed to only be feasible in the hands of huge capitalists who are at best crytpofascists and at worst outright nazis.

Improving your soil is a very therapeutic way to be a little paranoid.

I cannot prove this, but the smell of good soil seems to somehow heal my mind. I go outside on the roof and just smelling the soil makes me feel more calm and less ... detached.

It has to be good fertile soil, any old dirt won't due. I think it's somehow healing to touch and smell the soil.

@futurebird
there are studies showing that good soil has positive impacts on your brain. Something about producing seratonins.

For everyone saying "immigrate to Europe! You'll be safe here" I want to cram this chart in their face...

Every one of your fucking countries is 1-2 elections from being fascist yourselves. And no end in sight. Sure, Trump's America is bad. But being an immigrant in any fascist nation is really bad too.

God I'm sick of all the "it couldn't happen here"isms

The Labour Party has presided over a rise in political prisoners in the UK (what else would you call people imprisoned for protesting about environmental issues or the situation in Gaza?).

When we wonder whether the Labour Party is the bulwark against the right that it still wants to present itself as, we might wonder how this differs from what a ReformUK Ltd Govt. might do?

And if you defend Labour as the better of two evils, then we really are lost!
