Never quite know what will grab my attention. I’ve moved on from just agreeing that climate change will drastically affect the next generations and am actively looking at ways to build resilience and support each other. My generation has to hold its hands up and admit we failed to prevent this. Sorry kids. Going to spend my remaining time enjoying the best of humanity not the worst - art, cooperatives, writing, music, history, film (I should have just said arts), random stuff, etc. He/him
This is more or less the way fascism goes. They want you to think of them as hard men, with zero body fat, marching in perfect unison towards the projects goals but the reality is that fascists are rejects. Sane people don't pick fascism. Winners don't pick fascism. Fascist movements are full of grifters, cranks, nutjobs and so forth. All of them. ALL of them have been EXACTLY like Trumpism. And for some reason they NEVER tell you that in school.

Prince Harry must be thinking “I’ve got a chance at the throne” if his brother is as stupid as his dad.
Can't believe the country with by far the most guns and hobbyist shooters is actually this bad at hitting anything.

40 years ago, 25/26 April 1986, reactor 4 of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant exploded, contaminating huge swaths of land regionally and across Europe.

I remember it well. I worked at an Institute for Nuclear Physics (working on space particles). We put instruments on the roof to check whether the gvmt told the truth.

I remember taking refuge in doorways when it started raining - we did not want to get touched by ... rain drops. It was terrible.

And don't give me "can't happen here".

Today is my Fediversary!  ✨

I cannot tell you enough how much the Fediverse and Mastodon changed my life positively.

From the amazing community,
to a new connected social life free from big tech's authoritarianism, I will forever be grateful for what I found here 💚

If you want to give me a gift for my Fediversary, please send a donation to my incredible instance Infosec Exchange, generously administrated by @jerry

On each of our Fediversary,
let's take a moment to appreciate all the people who kindly give their time to manage an instance for free, to do the hard work of moderation to protect us all, to contribute with code, documentation, art, and more. Without them, you and I wouldn't be here.

Thank you everyone for being part of this community

Long live the Fediverse!

So, it now seems that McKinsey & Cambridge Econometrics analysis of the likely environmental impact of the build-out of AI-related data centres in the UK was off by around ten times; that is, new (independent) projections suggest (and now adopted by the Govt.) that the environmental impact (via carbon emissions) is likely to be TEN times what the consultancies predicted.

(water usage predictions have also been raised)

Funny that...I wonder who else McKinsey work for???
