minor literature[s] - Fiction

Submit fiction here. Maximum wordcount 5000 words, though the shorter the better. Please only submit one piece. What we want: Idiosyncratic and original writing that will challenge, provoke, and enthral us and our readers. We embrace difference and welcome, most of all, voices from the margins – people or characters who aren't part of dominant narratives – voices of resistance and protest, outsiders, and those who might live at an angle to the world. Bear in mind these can be your characters – they don't have to be you. We're afraid we don't currently take science fiction, fantasy or horror. Please format your submission in 12 point font (ideally Times New Roman), with double spacing. Please note: Due to the large amount of subs we receive, and the fact we work on a voluntary basis, it might take our editors between 3-4 months to respond to your submission. We appreciate your patience. Keep in my that we anticipate accepting only a small number of submissions – simultaneous submission are fine, but please contact the editor if your work is accepted elsewhere,Disclaimer: The author is fully responsible for clearing © for all material submitted. The editors reserve the right to take down any piece that for whatever reason they feel is detrimental to the project.  Have you read our general guidelines?

Hi! Bloof Books is a #SmallPress founded by @shanna Compton in 2007, publishing #poetry and #HandPrinted #art. This is our new #fediverse profile on . We’ll be sharing #poems from our #authors, announcements about new #books and #chapbooks, and probably some photos of #bookarts as we make things in the #studio. We function more like a group art project vs. a brand, OK? Happy to be here.

Who is #VeronicaRyan, this year’s Turner Prize winner?

Ryan, who is 66 years old, is the second Black woman and the oldest #artist to ever win the prize, but for many, the artist may not be a household name.

Rhea Nayyar highlights Ryan’s practice and how she delves into the experiences of generational #migration, contradictions, and paradoxes.

I love readers. I mean, I’m feeling especially grateful to everyone who is reading my book right now, but I love all readers of everything everywhere. #books #reading #writing #love #gratitude
a little #introduction: I'm Jenny (she/her), an artist and writer based in Oakland. I wrote a book called How to Do Nothing and have another one coming out next year called Saving Time. I also used to teach internet art and was once an artist in residence at a dump (still miss it). currently I'm very into #geology and am lucky to be reading an advance copy of @alden's Deep Oakland: How Geology Formed a City. generally speaking, if I see a hill, I will walk up it.

for #thicktrunktuesday (and #mosstodon) I submit this tree I saw in new hope, PA, without which I may not have learned that “edaphoecotropism” is the term for when a tree “eats” an object

Trees That Eat Things - Scenic Hudson

Scenic Hudson Land Stewardship Coordinator Dan Smith photographed an ice skate being “eaten” by a tree on one of our protected properties in Ulster County. The skate was probably abandoned alongside the tree a number of years ago. Over time, as the tree grew, the wood surrounded the blade, placing a tight grip on it. […]
