Many congressional staffers I interview in my research say they wish that the same science groups visiting the other party's offices would also reach out to them.

When some staff feel ignored by scientists, they may not seek out their guidance on legislation.

The result is two different policy conversations happening on single issues by each party across Capitol Hill. That’s bad for democracy & chips away at the ability to compromise.

We Need to Talk

But we don't.

Unelected Representative
We are at most, a few months away from apps with content and sharing mechanisms just not possible on Twitter or other centralized, closed-source platforms. That's when the momentum will really start to build for Activitypub and other protocols supporting federated networks. We have stop talking about it being a twitter "alternative" and start talking about is as an evolutionary step forward in global social networking. Because that's what it is.
My lab is looking for a postdoc to work on NGLY1 deficiency. In particular, we are looking to test a bunch of candidate therapeutics in preclinical models. Fully funded, though all our postdoc have received independent funding. ahh, what?

This is what I get if I click a genomic.social link on twitter

I'm not an activist of any kind, but I can't stay on Twitter with what is happening right now.
I hope I will get back my capacity to monitor new interesting papers quickly here!
Long life to mastodon!
"Free speech" guru @[email protected]'s Twitter has started labeling Mastadon & Post URLs as spam & malware. What a hypocritical loser. Seriously.
No, you cannot. Dear leader is terrified of competition, even community-driven mostly non-commercial competition. Free speeching so hard right now!

Every news outlet should stand up a Mastondon instance for their reporters & staff.

It’ll be great to see [email protected] or whatever domain they want to use.

Built in verification. Every reporter for the Washington Post on a washpo domain. Every reporter for the New York Times on an NYTimes domain. Etc, etc.

Plus the “local” feed for each instance becomes a feed of all the posts from that institution mixed together — providing extra discovery.

The best career advice I have:

Be kind. To everyone.

Didn't he buy #twitter to promote free speech?? And he is doing the opposite of that now!! 🤦‍♀️ I deleted the app first and also my account a while back. Loving #Mastodon so far 😍
