I had the chance to speak today at the #AnnualPrivacyForum #APF2025 in Frankfurt about #DigitalSovereignty, the project EU OS https://eu-os.eu @eu_os .

I also expressed that digital sovereignty is important for competition, cybersecurity and data protection authorities to carry out their work free(er) from conflicts of interests.

While scanning some websites for data protection processing, I noticed that #facebook sets the #facebookpixel to the .org top-level domain. 😲

This would normally mean that facebook can reuse the cookie across all websites using .org. Is that even allowed by browsers? Any experiences on this topic?

I publish today the free software #Jekyll #MapLibre (pre-release; MIT license) – a plugin for static websites for easy self-hosting of maps.

I proved to myself that privacy-friendly self-hosted #maps (as opposed to #GoogleMaps in the cloud) for displaying locations on websites can be accomplished in a few days with minimal resources. In the future, I will consider this as my new baseline when looking at #GDPR Art. 25 (data protection by design and by default).

💡If commercants fight theft with video surveillance employing legimite interest as legal basis under #GDPR, I could object and they would need to offer a shortcut, wouldn't they?
