Tell me you're a corporate shill without telling me that you're a corporate shill.

For once, the elected officials actually works to protect their people from exploits, but no, gruber can't play with his new shiny toy in EU, so regulations are bad.

'Murican 🤦

Be informed that admin of alpaca.gold, a data scientist, has explicitly claim that remote posts pulled and stored in their server are consenting those data to be use for whatever purpose that he likes.

to seldo: thank you for justifying my reason for not using my name, photo, or share anything personal in public. You have successfully made your point that fediverse is not a safe place from exploits.

@[email protected] I think people federating their public posts to my stock Mastodon server, a service that stores posts forever, was already giving me consent.

stay weird, fediverse. do not conform to the mainstream.

you are not a replacement of anything, be you and do your own things.

you exists not to entertain others' expectations, you are not a service provider. there is no product, there is no customer, there is no transaction.

you are all communities of diverse people, not advertisement billboards.

resist the capitalists!

If you ever wonder why people keeps coming back to an abusive relationship and doesn't leave their abusive partner, observe no further as this new wave of #twitterMigration subsides in a few days and those newcomers quietly go back into Elon's arms.

Better to stay with the devil you know than to explore the unknowns of fediverse. Proof me wrong.

Defederation is THE killer feature of #Mastodon and other #ActivityPub implementations with solid domain/account management.

Kicking out a shitty admin and their associates is not only normal, it's how civilizations able to progress. Communities cannot move forward if they get bothered by the same pests who don't know what boundaries mean.

I fully expect m.s and m.o to be defederated when it's crawling with roaches and alike. There's no such thing as too big to block on a healthy federation.

My two cents on @mammoth being funded by VC and henceforth needs to make a profit:

* Worry later about their business model and put https://moth.social in your watchlist,

* Keep an eye if they remove or change existing safety features, like account migration, user-defined filters, data export & import, etc

Potential offence:
* Locking their users and forcing people to see contents or people that they don't want to.
* Breaking compatibility with other ActivityPub implementations

Moth.social

Welcome to Moth.social. Our mission is to make Mastodon fun & user friendly for everyone. We also build Mammoth for iPhone, iPad & Mac --the easiest way to Mastodon.

Mastodon hosted on moth.social

Active users, engaging contents, followers count, these metrics are what advertisers cares about a platform and nothing to do with socialising.

Post on what your pets are doing, funny things that your child draw or say, wisdoms from your parent, peculiar things about your hobbies or your work.

Fediverse is a place for humans, not ads. If you get this, you'd get why businesses and news are second-class fedizens.

• Shift to following hashtags instead of accounts,

• Shift to using relevant hashtags instead of building followers, allowing non-followers to see your posts in their home timeline,

• Shift your social media strategy from personal brand to topical: Build credibility, not popularity. Be an actual expert on that field/topic or at least have fundamental understanding of what you're talking about.

No, you are not obligated to provide evidence for your #fediblock announcement.

It's perfectly acceptable to say, "we're suspending this account/server for breaking our rules/incompatible rules" and let other admins use their own judgement if they should follow.

Be wary of those who ask for evidences as if your personal call is up for discussion with them.

When coming January and you're still thinking about Elon & whatever that he's doing on Twitter, and you can't stop posting on Mastodon about him/it, then maybe, just maybe, you're in the wrong social network?

I'm aware that some people needs to get it out of their system, and you should do it, but consider if that's how you want us to see you again and again over here: someone spewing what they hate vs someone sharing what they love 🤷🏻‍♂️
