It's #WorldLionDay so here is an actual, not AI generated lion. This oke was having a snooze near the road in the Kruger Park and not being very photogenic. Some chop in a bakkie behind us had no patience and honked his horn. Snap! Thanks boet!
A little Lightroom fun later
#JerseyTiger on a neighbour’s car. Luuuurve these gorgeous #moths. #Arctiidae FTW
Hardly ever see the glorious #Calopteryx #virgo around here so I was very excited to meet this splendid fellow yesterday. Light was horrible and it was windy but this photo is just about acceptable. I don't think it's possible to really capture their amazing iridescence in a photo #damselfly #macro #insect #odonata
Very much enjoyed presenting on 'Sex, dung and climate change' @pintofscience in Hull yesterday: a really fun evening and great talks by my fellow speakers. #pint23

Yes I've been taking pictures of flies this weekend #diptera #macrophotography #BlackAndWhite
Life and death on the underside of a nettle leaf: foreground left an #aphid gives birth to a live nymph. Behind her is a #fly recently killed by an #entomopathogenic #fungus, probably #Entomophthora muscae. The posture of the fly is typical for one killed by this fungus: on the underside of the leaf, abdomen stuck out, wings forwards. This is all #BehaviouralModification by the fungus to enhance the spread of the sticky infectious spores that are being released from the abdomen.
