If you’ll be around #denali tomorrow evening, come join us at 7 at the #DenaliEducationCenter (mp 230) for a conversation about #ChristineByl’s new novel, which is, as expected, brilliant. #alaskawriters #writersofmastodon
@seachanger @AlaskaWx & others: if I switch to the Alaska server, will my follows transfer over or will i need to re-follow everyone?
something I’m reminded of working outdoor gear retail in a tourist trap for the first time in years is how many grown men live their lives in fear of the possibility that they’ll encounter a unisex hoodie because “that’s how things are now”
honestly feeling my true middle aged self: rolling out of the tourist trap stretch of the parks hwy after locking up the outdoor gear store where I’ve shopped since I was 20 & am now covering shifts in a Prius I paid cash for and I’d forgot would start playing NIN’s “closer” V LOUD upon starting up & if I’ve learned anything it’s that we are all our past selves all at once & all jobs are real & fake at the same time & you can hold deep unresolved angst & inner peace at the same time
I guess I only come here to share nighttime dog thoughts. I’m still figuring out my mastodon identity, thanks for your patience, here’s the dog again

The dog caught a baby squirrel but maybe just sort of booped it a lot and was lying on the ground staring at it when we found him.

My partner didn’t want to leave it potentially injured and alone & we couldn’t find a panicked squirrel mom so…

We have a pet squirrel for the night I guess.

& an amped up border collie.

Social media dog content is either like 24 year olds lecturing you about how if you have not birthed, trained, & lived w at least 3 identical dogs for the entirety of their lives & been endorsed by multiple regional governments for your handling abilities you have no business adopting this breed or middle aged animal hoarders w a costume stash & unlimited funds, nothing in between

#knittersofmastodon, my friend Lynn just released a free headband pattern to support #mmiwg2s #WeekofAction. Download on revelry, & make a donation to the #Alaska Native Women’s Resource Center or an org of your choice.

Pic of my test knit, in red alpaca yarn, 2 strands held double.

Arrowband pattern by Lynn DeFilippo

No matter which way the arrow points, this headband is going in the right direction! Knit back and forth, Arrowband features a simple 2 row pattern repeat, in both written and chart form. It’s designed with over 4” of negative ease for a snug fit that allows for stretch over time. Arrowband is easy to modify, and will work well with various yarns.

listening to an #NPR interview w someone famous who now has kids & is rly big on Being A Mom & said something like "everything just gets more real when you have kids, like u look at things & think 'oh, is this the meaning of life?!'" & once again i am just baffled by wtf some people DID w their time/brains before procreating. like..awesome that you wanted kids & you have them now, but it's alarming the level of dismissal of all else.

signed, a childfree auntie w a full life & deep thoughts 🥴

*#denalipasquealmanac you would’ve figure out the typo tho
