@AlaskaWx honestly i feel like i could write a whole dissertation on the phenomenon of weather amnesia. it's wild. i'm not immune but...
If you’ll be around #denali tomorrow evening, come join us at 7 at the #DenaliEducationCenter (mp 230) for a conversation about #ChristineByl’s new novel, which is, as expected, brilliant. #alaskawriters #writersofmastodon
@seachanger @AlaskaWx & others: if I switch to the Alaska server, will my follows transfer over or will i need to re-follow everyone?
@AlaskaWx @Climatologist49 consensus from local facebook seems to be that it is terrible, has never happened before, is a complete unprecedented tragedy. today has been lovely though, in a sort of objectively sunny and warm way.
something I’m reminded of working outdoor gear retail in a tourist trap for the first time in years is how many grown men live their lives in fear of the possibility that they’ll encounter a unisex hoodie because “that’s how things are now”
honestly feeling my true middle aged self: rolling out of the tourist trap stretch of the parks hwy after locking up the outdoor gear store where I’ve shopped since I was 20 & am now covering shifts in a Prius I paid cash for and I’d forgot would start playing NIN’s “closer” V LOUD upon starting up & if I’ve learned anything it’s that we are all our past selves all at once & all jobs are real & fake at the same time & you can hold deep unresolved angst & inner peace at the same time
I guess I only come here to share nighttime dog thoughts. I’m still figuring out my mastodon identity, thanks for your patience, here’s the dog again

The dog caught a baby squirrel but maybe just sort of booped it a lot and was lying on the ground staring at it when we found him.

My partner didn’t want to leave it potentially injured and alone & we couldn’t find a panicked squirrel mom so…

We have a pet squirrel for the night I guess.

& an amped up border collie.

@Aviva_Gary you’re right, there are plenty of normal people just being normal with their dogs. I guess I mean the big dog accounts- like dog influencers (not here, obviously)
Social media dog content is either like 24 year olds lecturing you about how if you have not birthed, trained, & lived w at least 3 identical dogs for the entirety of their lives & been endorsed by multiple regional governments for your handling abilities you have no business adopting this breed or middle aged animal hoarders w a costume stash & unlimited funds, nothing in between
