Whenever I walk past a Tesla, I know it might be recording me, can be used to identify me, using its multitude of cameras and other sensors that stream everything to the mothership when in the so-called Sentry mode. Why do we accept this invasion of privacy? Why is it even allowed? And what do other car companies do?
When you search for “mastodon” in the iPhone App Store, the top result is an ad for Truth Social #enshittification

@tastapod as one building services where this is relevant, I wish our sales tech team had actually made the definition of “day” more stringent in some of our MSAs, and not up for interpretation by each day and [enterprise] customer.
@campuscodi one step further to having a Russia-only Internet would be to have the masses content with having all the popular vloggers on platforms controlled by the government. Next step, if not already, would be to make Russians access to YT having unfortunate intermittent routing problems.

Did you know you can easily search through your own Mastodon posts?

Just include from:me in the search field.

Instead of this, you can include in:library to show posts you have interacted with or written yourself.

If you want to search through posts of a specific user, include from:username (the full username, including the instance)

If it doesn't work, have a look at this:

A follow-up post regarding the Mastodon search tips: If the search options don't work, the reason might be that your Mastodon instance maintainer hasn't implemented Elasticsearch. Also important: do not use capitals anywhere in the search conditions. E.g.: "From:me" doesn't work. @neilmadden I have been using Bruno (usebruno.com) for some time, and have been a happy proponent of it. But it seems as if they recently switched to another game. Starting in November they introduced a”pricing” page, and have moved feature by feature from the free edition over to the paid one. I don’t mind paying for software, and compared to the forbiddingly expensive Postman and Insomnia licensing schemes, Bruno seems much better, but I won’t trust them just yet.
@nedbat Yes, but… Learning how a computer works by learning C is as true as it ever was. Back in the day of PDP-11 (RSX, BSD or RSTS/E) or VAX/VMS, there were also instruction scheduling, optimization as well as I/O that you did not have acces to.
Today's story caps months worth of work with colleagues on a Washington Post series about critical changes in India's public governance through its domination of technology.
This piece delves into what happened before and after Apple warned journalists and politicians in India Oct. 30 that a country was attacking their phones.
What we found: The evidence suggests that India is using Pegasus again, and again going after its critics in civil society.
More surprising, and a clear sign of what the current Indian government expects from major tech companies: Ministers went on the attack against Apple, which sees India as a major market for growth.

I'm surprised that #AWS took this long to begin charging for #IPv4 addresses.

In a rare price hike, AWS will be charging for IPv4 addresses. The change brings them in line with other cloud providers and encourages good internet hygiene.
