Attempting to be an anarchist, living in the hills above Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire with two cats, two guitars, some effects pedals and some modular synthesisers.
I'm a keen cook.
I DJ using a system that I built, housed in a red metal tool box - hence the username.
@sarmism not as much as I should - usually for gigs when I do. Fujiya and Miyagi and Suzanne Ciani were the last 2
Am loving all the CWs and hidden content here, it's like an Advent calendar. Is it boobs or a dog with a watermelon hat? Let's find out!
I’ve been practicing for a forthcoming gig I have in #Manchester in December. Here’s a very short preview. More on my TikTok and Instagram for those into that sort of thing! (Link in bio)

@sarmism sounding good!

Ever worked with LED grid arrays, like the #RaspberryPi Sense HAT? And perhaps wanted to simulate them in your web browser to experiment with sizes etc. before buying the hardware?

Okay, maybe the use case is kinda niche. 😏 I needed to do that, so I wrote a #JavaScript library that renders grids of glowing LEDs: https://fietkau.software/minihat

I'm working with Tyler Porter to get it into RGBMatrixEmulator, but we're both busy and the back & forth is slow. I'm sure it'll happen! https://github.com/ty-porter/RGBMatrixEmulator/issues/45

A browser-based simulator of LED matrix displays.

https://earth.nullschool.net/ is a FANTASTIC free resource for visualizing global atmospheric and ocean conditions, especially interesting during big weather events. Keeping my eye on it as Nicole blows closer to home. Make sure to mess with the control panel at lower left

earth :: a global map of wind, weather, and ocean conditions

See current wind, weather, ocean, and pollution conditions, as forecast by supercomputers, on an interactive animated map. Updated every three hours.

Also featured a magnificent anti #Starmer rant! #AlexeiSayle
@Janeygodley
I am three days in and, honestly, the differences are not as big as they seem
Key points:
Post an #introduction to say who you are
Use Content Warnings (CW) to mask posts that could be triggering-all political commentary, depictions of food, unsafe images, you get the point
Add text descriptions to images
Use hashtags liberally and capitalise #LIkeThis so that text readers work properly
There is no algorithm to promote posts, so boost (retweet) rather than ‘like’
@warringtonruncorn I have two examples - one was a similar firework shooting out of guitars thing at a Blue Oyster Cult Gig.
But the best was the Crazy World of Arthur Brown when, as he sang something about his brain leaving his body, someone dressed as a giant green brain wandered across the stage and at the climax of the gig they poured Arthur into a giant syringe
This is now my moral, ethical and natural home...
