International penny parthing racer (yes… really), long distance unicyclist and Vivaldi desktop browser release guy. Linux user, who runs Slackware. I also have a thing for unusual watches.

This is an alt for @ruari as a little backup account, some experimentation and perhaps for some more personal stuff.

I notice that while #Lynx is pretty good at displaying articles from The Guardian, it is not so great at handling the homepage.

Still, easily solved. Load the RSS feed in #Newsboat and then load the articles from there. 😉

What is a "partner" these days?

Historically, when I heard the word "partner" I would think of a person's close confident. Someone who knows you well and could potentially represent you to the outside world in your absence. That could be a boyfriend, girlfriend, the person you married, etc. In the business world, perhaps someone you trusted enough to start a company with, tying your economy to their own financial well being in some sense. In all cases a person you implicitly trust.

Given the level of trust a partner historically implied, how many simultaneous partners are realistic? I would think a very low number.

Are these 865 "partners" like that? Or when they write this do they actually mean, these are 865 companies with whom we are sharing all the data we can collect on you, for a tiny financial kickback or other minor benefit to run our website.

I feel like they should be forced to write,

"We and the 865 companies we are selling you out to…"

Don't lie and call them "partners" to make it sound like the person using your website should trust all these companies. Companies who you likely know very little about and have not vetted. Your "partners"… really? Fuck you!

I decided to try it in another colourway out of curiosity (again… under $5, so 🤷🏼).

Very clean and highly readable but I think I still prefer the black and yellow.

The other 7 strap colours

Again the main motivation for this purchase was the strap. And it is quite nice. Silicone and hence soft. Nice texture on the outside. Lots of holes for air and fine adjustment. Also quick release and small notches on the strap holders, so they do not slip.

As I said, the price was worth it just for the strap (with 'free' watch).

Plus they do this watch and strap in a bunch of colours.

I'm wearing the cheap #Skmei again. I still think this is great deal for less than $5.

#WristCheck

For those of you in #Europe who just experienced the end of #DST (daylight savings time) and now need to reset a bunch of annoying #clocks for kitchen appliances with incomprehensible configuration. Remember that many of them will switch to 12:00 automatically on restore from a power cut. Use this to your advantage. 🤔

Just set your alarm to 11:58 tomorrow. Then you have 2 mins to get ready to cut power to your kitchen and re-enable at it at exactly 12:00. 😉
