A shifty bloke in the pub just offered me the chance to read 200 extra tweets for a tenner.

Kinda funny that Twitter melted down again with major ON breaking news, but: the province's highest court finds that the Ford govt's campaign spending law managed to be so unconstitutional not even the notwithstanding clause could save it. https://coadecisions.ontariocourts.ca/coa/coa/en/item/21269/index.do
Working Families Coalition (Canada) Inc. v. Ontario (Attorney General) - Court of Appeal for Ontario

I'm rereading The Pushcart War for reasons and am reminded again how it is not only science-fiction (set in the future!) and formally inventive, but also is a manual for collective action, resistance, protest, that is very relevant today. So here's a thread:

Holy heck.

For the first time in my life, Twitter is telling me that I'm over the daily limit. I can't tweet or even retweet.

And this is *not* a high activity day for me.

These new limits are apparently implemented hand-in-hand with the new API policies (whatever they actually wound up being) to "alleviate some of the strain on the behind-the-scenes part of Twitter and reduce downtime and error pages".

I've been talking about my suspicion that Twitter is breaking and Elon can't fix it.

I take this as confirmation.

Limiting activity and engagement will kill it as a social network.

So it seems that Twitter didn’t realize their own system relied on the free API? 🤦🏻‍♀️
