Free Software Movement of India#InternetFreedom
The Free Software Movement of India condemns the atrocious internet shutdowns across the country to stop democratic protests. In this year alone there have been 93 instances where the government shut down the internet in various places and more recently in Assam and Meghalaya. Shutting down the internet achieves no purpose and in fact, increases harm to people in the country.
We demand communications to be restored across the country within 24 hours. We further demand the telecom suspension rules be revised to not continue these illegal shutdowns of internet with no public emergency on the ground.

Half the Sky, Half the Earth demands speedy trial and justice for the victim. We condemn the callous nature of the administration who failed to respond immediately leading to the unfortunate incident.

Minister of Electonics and IT , today in Rajya Sabha,when categorically asked if Indian Govt. or its agencies bought NSO's service for Pegasus software. choose to hide behind the rhetoric of "National Security" and ".. we should think about the soldiers in forward post..". This is all too familiar. I urge anyone who reads this, do check this by going through the 30 mins or so discussion that ensued in Rajya Sabha.
