Natural Resources Institute - COP15: NRI welcomes a landmark global biodiversity framework agreement

A momentous agreement has been signed by more than 200 countries in Montreal at COP15 after several years of negotiations. The Kunming-Montreal Global biodiversity framework responds to the alarming continued loss of biodiversity and the threat this represents for nature, and human wellbeing. It is particularly welcome that the new framework sustains the pledge to conserve and manage 30% of the world’s land and marine areas by 2030.

Our #innovate uk partner #EcoFixKenya extract oil from Croton megalocarpus seeds for commercial uses such as biofuel, lubricants and cosmetics. We are helping develop the Byproducts from the seed cake after oil extraction - these include a biostimulant, insect repellent, fertiliser & animal feed. Arrived in Nanyuki early so squeezed in a quick game drive at #OlPejeta conservancy & saw the last 2 northern white rhino on the planet - both females so species is functionally extinct - a privilege but also quite depressing.
