I finished reading She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan. It started out strong, finished relatively strong, but the middle segment tended to sag under the weight of how good the beginning and end were.

In the end I liked it, but a chunk of that comes down to a relatively strong ending.

It's worth a read (especially if the idea of a fantasy re-imagining of ancient Chinese history sounds appealing to you) , just go in with tempered expectations.

Some very off the cuff thoughts on #Threads:

* Out of the box, it's surprisingly basic. It feels functionally identical to #Mastodon. Just posts and replies, no stories, trends, news, etc. In that regard, I like it. I've maintained Twitter was too noisy for a long while

* Posts are chronological, but still have algo suggestions fed into your feed. I like chronological, but not a fan of algo junk. That said, I know finding people on Masto can be difficult for some, so it's a bit more casual in that regard

* It claims it will be fully operational with the #fediverse in the near future. When you view a profile, you see the sever
