Cyborg that's part of the problem. (T1D since 2016.)
Sassy and competent.
Gregarious introvert.
Alaska - England - Germany (with a few steps between).

Profile image: A characture of me (OtherRyn) with blue hair and eyebrows wearing a purple shirt, with hands in fists, elbows bent, and a look of happy satisfaction. You can almost hear her saying "yesssss".

I got home and immediately flopped on the bed. I was thoroughly inspected by Basti to verify that I was indeed mahm and not some doppelganger that was swapped in Dortmund.

I was worried that any dog we had was going to velcro to Augs because almost every dog we've ever met loves him more. I had to spend the evening with Basti laying his head on my lap and looking up at me.

He's definitely my dog. This is going to make my autumn vacation interesting.

To give you an idea of the clearing that happened today, this was the average height of the stinging nettles on the right. The area I cleared was 4m by 15m. Amazingly, it only took about a battery and a half to clear the area.

The goal this year is getting the raised beds set up and progress towards a more meadow friendly yard.

Though with this amount of nitrogen, I'm kinda tempted to plant corn.

Aw man, the Vertex trial has been halted. Really curious as to the post-mortem findings on why the encapsulation didn't work as hoped.

When I planted the new fruit trees last fall, I put some plastic tubes around the trunks for wind protection and, more importantly, to prevent the deer from snacking on my young trees.

What I didn't realise is that I could accidentally create a little greenhouse for any tree branches under the tubes.

So one branch of my nectarine tree declared "It's SPRING, bitches!" and the rest of the tree was like "no, it's not. Slow your roll, Charles."

But it's super cute!

Also, he looks adorably hilarious with his underpants.

Today's progress in sewing: after getting the needed thread, I was able to get the neckline and the sleeve hems done for both dresses done. Hem has to wait until I set up the laser level because my body does not lend itself to an easy symmetry for hems.

More things learned with these, but the most important thing is that I (nearly) have two new dresses to wear around the house and for quick errands or out to lunch and it will hopefully encourage me to not go to work in pyjamas.

I think the next one will have the hems dialed in a bit better.

This weekend's sewing project:
Cleaning and oiling my sewing machines because they've been very good to me this week.

I have been informed that the "scissor tips in tiny holes" method of shorting a board is... unusual. Honestly, feel kinda invincible now.

My next project arrived! These USB powered outdoor smart lights will be put in the carport on a solar panel + battery connection to give be occasional light when getting home after dark or walking Basti at night.

In other #HomeAssistant product news - the slimline neodymium magnets work as a connector for the window/door sensors and don't have that massive chonk profile. Really pleased with that and I will be getting those on all the basement office windows later this week.

First new knitting project of the year is always for me. I love making things for friends and family that are knitworthy, but I always make sure that the first new project is for me because I deserve the fruits of my labour and the skills that I have earned over the years.

Pattern: Nordic Nights by Jennifer Steingass
Yarn: DROPS Flora in 05 (Dunkelgrau) and Dibadu Funnies Tiny Merino in Janufrost.
Modifications (so far): I doubled the depth of the collar and started with a tubular cast on.

Heck yeah! Final finish of the year, coming in just at the wire!

After knitting a Destination Unknown Cowl for a friend of mine, I decided I needed one for myself. But make it goth. But also Barbie? (A friend of mine would argue and say I made a synthwave cowl, but it's for me and Barbie Goth it is.)

Pattern: Destination Unknown Cowl by Cheryl Faust
Yarn: Wollmeise Pure in Heavy Metal (C1), Wollmeise Twin in Verhext und Verratzt (C2)
Modifications: For all but Chart 4, I worked C1 in stockinette and C2 in garter stitch. I really like the difference from the first Destination Unknown I made (as written).
Duration: 8 days

Blog post: Maybeeee? Not today, but I might write one up in the future. I dunno.

Overall, very pleased with the results, I look forward to wearing it this winter. Now, we have snow coming on Thursday (for a WEEK!) so I need to figure out a hat with the leftovers!
