I’m in cybersecurity, but mostly here to scream into the void about the decline of civilization. Not so egotistical that my toots live forever (auto-delete turned on). Down with corporations and billionaires, ❤️ you all.

As a (queer) cis man, I honestly think _everyone_ should think about what their gender means to them, and how they express it.

I've thought a lot about masculinity — what makes it toxic, or anti-toxic, or positive — and how that applies to myself, not just how I act but how I feel in my body. And I think because I've thought about that, I've had moments of gender euphoria. Of feeling right in my body and my presentation and all of that. Not just being okay with it, not unthinking acceptance, but legit euphoria.

More cis people need to do the work so they can feel that, because they'd finally understand some fraction of what gender means to people who have had to confront it, with whatever results.

@mekkaokereke

😭 Thanks for the heads up.

I really really like the #ProjectHailMary book. I like how it creates suspense without resorting to conflict. How it keeps pulling the rug from under you. The message.

I've been on the fence to watch the movie due to the spoilery trailer.

And now this.

Finding out the creators of your favourite things to be jerks sucks.

🤦🏿‍♂️Actually, nevermind.

Why is everything like this?

The author supposedly went on an anti-woke, right-wing podcast to promote the movie while trashing other books and movies that do have a "woke" message or that have inclusive representation? But... why?

Why was that necessary?

@mekkaokereke He's hoping the anti-woke crowd brings him more money than the woke crowd will lose him. He's reading the zeitgeist and cynically taking a knee to the fascists and racists (but I repeat myself). He may also be banking on the fact that most of his woke crowd won't hear about this, so losing even less from that camp.

I didn't say he was right. I'm just highlighting his motivation.

For many people, the #Linux vs #Windows vs #Mac debate is a privilege — it assumes you can choose. But working with the Computer Upcycle Project, I've seen the real choice is often Linux vs no computer at all.

~95% of donated computers are "too old" for Windows 11 or macOS. Linux installs on them anyway, adding 10+ years of life to machines #Microsoft and #Apple called trash.

This isn't Linux vs Windows. It's Linux vs e-waste.

As far as I'm concerned, you have three options:

1. Not watch the new Harry Potter.

2. Watch the new Harry Potter but shut up about it.

3. Admit to watching the new Harry Potter and be judged.

There is no fourth option. I think you should do number 1, but you're a grownup and I don't have access to your router, so it's not up to me. But understand that if you do watch it, you need to either shut the hell up or brace yourself. Because I am not here to make you feel ok about it.

We're getting our first look at Grand #Paris Express in action.

The driverless trains will run at 110 km/h, putting this among the fastest metros in the world.

✅ 4 all-new metro lines
✅ 68 new stations
✅ 200 km (125 miles) of new tracks
✅ 1 major line extension (Line 14, both ends)

I am not a fan of the rise of mandatory age verification in apps and websites.

But if that’s the direction we’re going to go in then it makes the most sense for this to be supported at the operating system level than every random website or app collecting your government ID.
