I was bamboozled into thinking I’ve found the perfect man. After years of feeling lonely and rejected since my late partner died, this guy randomly showed up in my life like a tornado. I was swept off my feet, and stupidly ignored the bazillion red flags. Obsessive adoration and attraction quickly shifted into devaluation.
How am I supposed to trust anyone ever again? How am I supposed to discern between genuine feelings and lust?
Currently re-watching Lake Mungo (2008), one of the eeriest #FoundFootage mockumentaries of its sub-genre. Set in rural Australia, the psychological #horror is centred around a tragic loss, and the mystery surrounding the disastrous event that inexorably leads to a line of gobsmacking discoveries.
Tell me about two #films you saw as a kid that somehow influenced your hobbies, and triggered a romanticised fascination/idolisation of the place they were set in.
Mine are The Wizard, and Gleaming the Cube (both released in 1989). They’re the reason why I thought #california was the best place in the universe…
