This Platform (WordPress) Confuses Me
I used to love WordPress, but now visibility is so low. One would think the platform is dead if you have the crickets comment section and low views that I have.
When I share a post and get a like, I am genuinely so happy to see my work acknowledged. I appreciate the same 5 people who help support my blog. Seriously, I do.
I keep thinking “Wordpress is a dying platform. I’m grateful.”
And then I check the reader, and the trending posts are poems. There’s HUGE activity. It. Confuses. Me.
Where is some of this activity on my own poems and stories?
A poem by someone else can garner 244 likes and 16 comments (comments that the person doesn’t even respond to), yet my blog continually struggles day after day after day. I’m starting to believe the algorithm is pushing me down or people are paying for the ad service.
I should be receiving some comments 😭
The like count and view count is so low, that I am convinced nobody is reading.
I know you will say “likes aren’t everything,” but in this world where a million things exist, likes help boost my blog and get me in front of more eyes. I want my art in front of more people.
I’m tired 😔
EDIT: this refers to WordPress itself, not Mastodon. I appreciate any and all traffic from Mastodon considering it is the open web.
