Steve Martin is a comic genius. Here’s a ‘personalised’ letter he used to send out to fans. That flip at the end is perfection.

Do you know any of these guys? This was on the balcony of the old French control tower at #Danang, #Vietnam, ca 1969. I'm the good looking guy holding the camera. The #VA is adamant I get tested for #AgentOrange exposure. I don't need no steenkin' tests, I know I was exposed. I'd like to know if any of the guys in the pic have had cancer or other AO related effects. I keep telling the #VA, at my age, I'm gonna die sooner than later but now, I'm curious. Thanks.

ARkStorm 2.0: Climate change is increasing the risk of a California megaflood - Weather West

Note: This special Weather West article focuses on new peer-reviewed scientific research, co-led by Xingying Huang and me, that we recently published in the journal Science Advances. This research, as well as the following blog post distillation of it, represent the first phase of the ongoing ARkStorm 2.0 effort to better understand and characterize the risks

Weather West - California weather and climate perspectives

How it started:
A lecturer at the start of a course, in person, a few weeks back: "Recommend highly you all come to lectures in person. Now that covid is over, it's nice to gather together, see smiles, yada yada..."

How it's going:
The lecturer has covid and had to cancel todays in person class.

(Personally have not been in person once and will not go if I can avoid it, I can send them a picture of my smile if that's so important.)

I’m back after a long break. So much has happened in the meantime. Where to start? Among other projects, I’ve applied for funding to test the effectiveness of HEPA cleaners to protect our most vulnerable in aged care. Whether my team is successful this time or not, the clean air revolution is coming.

This worries me: Saturday at 14:53 local time, US airforce aircraft WC-135 Constant Phoenix arrived on Crete, Greece.

Why this worries me: WC-135 is the United States' nuclear radiation monitoring airplane.

For weeks Ukraine has warned, Russia has made preparations for blowing up the The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant by placing explosives at multiple on-site locations. An incident could contaminate both Ukraine and surrounding countries.

This world is not safe, until Putin is stopped.
