It is finally time for me to start indoor seeds.

The work done this winter with the #compostathome bins and worm bins let me make some free potting mix.

@[email protected] this is how I pre-compost my #worm food for the #wormery it allows me to be able to feed them with a routine.

@[email protected] it takes about 3 months for a bin to be ready to harvest. To make this go faster, always chop finely the food and the bedding. Check every other day the level of moisture that should be around 70%. Don't overfeed the worms and let them consume the volume of food they need. I feed mine 2 times a week and check daily the temperature, food level and moisture.

If I had to recommend only one tutorial on how to make a hot #compost pile, I strongly recommend this video from the youtube channel:

@[email protected] @TerryBernstein yes the USA is this so great country that they can't use a universal measurement system.

20 US gallons is 75 Liters.

@[email protected] if you have any questions about it feel free to ask. #Worms will be your best #gardening ally

@JimmyB here is a really good video that explains the process of a Berkeley hot composting pile.

@JimmyB the goal you look to achieve here is to activate the thermophilic phase of a compost piles. That phase is when the temperature reach higher than 50C or 120F. It can last from several days or month depending on the content of your pile. It is critical that you soak it really deeply with water.

To know if #compost is ready to harvest, In a pot put a few seeds of radishes in the compost.

If the seeds don't germinate it is not ready. Unfinished compost contain toxins that prevent those seeds to germinate.

If your #seeds germinate transplant them in a #garden bed.
