The poem's rhythm echoes "God's Judgment on a Bishop" – framing postmodernists as intellectual frauds deserving cosmic punishment.

This paper argues that Tiutchev’s 1851 translation of Schiller’s Das Siegesfest (Pominki) was actually written in 1848–49, triggered by Zhukovskii’s Odyssey translation and the European revolutions. Tiutchev used the ancient theme to compete with Zhukovsky poetically and to push back against revolutionary chaos—making the translation a political as well as literary act.
