@publicvoit RSS is one of those things where emacs just isn't the right fit for me. I want to use elfeed, and I have in the past, but the experience of using my phone is just better.

@9pfs everything haha. XMPP is a lot more complicated and in depth than I knew. I run my whole homelab off of docker compose and traefik as a reverse proxy and I could not seem to get a connection established with gaijim.

I think I was bouncing off of certs and DNS but I'm not positive because the logging gave me basically no insight outside of "connection established" and then immediately "connection dropped".

@9pfs @alina I just tried to self host prosody last night and it did not go well.
I've started asking people the thought experiment "are there more doors or wheels on planet earth?". I don't really care about their answer, but the speed at which they ask ChatGPT allows me to assess how much I care about their thoughts and opinions on other matters.

Imagine something that in 2020 didn't really exist but has so exploded onto our environment that in 2030 it will demand the water of 1.3 billion people and the electricity of 2 billion.

In a time when we have a global historic severe drought and when our civilization is about to collapse due to over-consumption of energy.

This is AI.

This is Big Tech

These are the tech bros. Here to burn it all down for greed and ambition.

AI’s environmental costs threaten water, land and climate

Artificial Intelligence is not only responsible for worrying amounts of earth-warming greenhouse gases: the technology's environmental footprint is also expanding at a pace that could strain the planet’s natural resources.

UN News

Student: “So Elon Musk is a trillionaire?”
Me: “Yup.”
Student: “How did he get that much money?”
Me: “Well, he doesn’t really have a trillion dollars cash. He just owns a lot of stock in companies that are valued at a trillion dollars.”
Student: “So those companies make huge profits?”
Me: “Oh gosh no. They all lose billions of dollars a year. All of them. Huge losses.”

The Economist headline: “Gen Z Mysteriously Hates Capitalism and No One Can Figure Out Why.”

God damn it...

@thetolsonator I've been very happy with now the app builds playlists so far. Seems to do a great job of spreading out artists and albums.

Also love how good it is at syncing with my #jellyfin library and automating downloads for offline play so I'm not eating all my mobile data lol.

@roskakori @publicvoit @skuebeck I still think that caffeinate should prevent sleep, full stop. Weird that it doesn't disable the lid switch too.
