As far as I can tell, Tweetdeck, which is owned by Twitter, has gone offline. I believe Musk intends to force users to pay $8 a month to use this feature as part of Twitter Blue.

Under the GOP's proposed 30% sales tax, you'd pay higher prices on everything, including nearly $5 for a gallon of regular milk.

Inflation is already causing enough pain. Folks shouldn't pay more at the grocery store to help Republicans fund a tax cut for the wealthiest 1%.

I finally wrote a new article on my website (and I plan to do that a lot more in the future).

As the 5 year anniversary of the channel approaches, I wanted to reflect on what it means to work as a full time content creator, how it happened, the good, and the bad. Enjoy the looooooong brain dump!

Five years of TLE: what is it like to work as a content creator

In a month, The Linux Experiment will be five years old. The channel, not me. So I wanted to write a lengthy brain dump of what it feels like to make a living as someone creating content. Here we go!

Insurrectionists should not be still holding office.
I get why Kevin McCarthy wants to be Speaker. I just don't get why he wants to be Kevin McCarthy.

It's a disservice to tell people their mastodon instance doesn't matter, just sign up anywhere

If your server abruptly shuts because the owner gets bored, dies, runs out of money, that's a problem, no way to transfer. If the owner decides to ban people for something arbitrary they can

For mastodon to take off we need instances that are reliable, stable, resilient, fairly run. Or to not tie online identity to a single instance

P.S. Reliable so far doesn't mean reliable long term

Big Journalism mustered a few pathetic protests to Musk's control freakery with reporters' accounts, but maintained business as usual on the birdsite.

In other words, Musk is winning his campaign against freedom of expression that he dislikes.

You'd imagine that the journalism business would take genuine action -- eg leaving Twitter -- to demonstrate a backbone, and help preserve press freedom. You would be wrong, sadly.

Elon Musk to fake-quit as CEO of birbsite at some point in the future when he eventually wants to

There, I fixed your headlines folks

@ianhillmedia @dansinker Sigh. In a federated universe, people share the load. I am using money from my center at CUNY to support the out-of-pocket costs of @adamdavidson starting journa.host because the fediverse is run by such volunteers. We in news media will benefit from this federated ecosystem--no longer subject to the whims of insane moguls--and should pay back. Everything isn't about us and our pathetic bottom lines.
