Under the GOP's proposed 30% sales tax, you'd pay higher prices on everything, including nearly $5 for a gallon of regular milk.

Inflation is already causing enough pain. Folks shouldn't pay more at the grocery store to help Republicans fund a tax cut for the wealthiest 1%.

@Joaquincastrotx Taxing one thing that drives the economy (spending) is one way to kill it completely...
@Joaquincastrotx How refreshing to hear the voice of reason again...instead of the GOP talking points which are currently: "we're taking your Social Security and Medicare & then will be charging you 30% more for everything."

@Joaquincastrotx

Also, #Americans near the #Canadian #border would go shopping in #Canada due to their lower prices, reversing the current trend. I know lots of #Canadians who presently cross into the #USA every couple of weeks to do their grocery shopping, since prices there, despite the unfavorable exchange rate, are lower. A 30% tax on goods sold in #America would reverse that flow, #Vermonters would be shopping in #Montreal.

But #Republicans don't care.

@Joaquincastrotx
Republican voters deserve 50% sale tax

@Joaquincastrotx And the inflation is being driven, at least in part, by large corporation price hiking resulting in windfall profits.

Tax those profits.

@Joaquincastrotx if you make under about 170k, you'll pay more.

Bear with my rough numbers.

The average American makes $54,000. And spends most of it. They're in the 24% tax bracket, with about 60% of their income in the 12% bracket, with around 20% essential tax free.

Basically, unless you're saving 10k plus a year, or making more than 170k or so, it's a 30% income tax. And for most people, that's literally death sentence.

And this assumes you ignore existing sales taxes!
