We're seeing a lot of initiatives across Europe and the EU to replace Microsoft services with #Linux and #OpenSource solutions.

This could be massive for Linux and the entire community, so I'm sharing my thoughts on why this is happening, why it's great, but also why it could still very much die down very quickly:

Europe is slowly ditching Microsoft: why it's happening & why it could fail.

It's been a while since I did a little roundup of cool #Linux apps and utilities, so here is a selection of 16 tools I either use, or plan on using, or can just recommend:

Here is this week's #Linux & #OpenSOurce News video. There won't be one next week, as I'm on vacation, things will resume as normal in the first week of July :)

#KDE Plasma 6.4 should be released today, so here is my loo at all the things that were changed or added, and there are a lot.

In my opinion, KDE is currently the best Linux desktop, mixing simplicity, polish, and easily accessible power user features, and Plasma 6.4 adds a lot more quality of life on top of that:

Plasma 6.4: IMO, THE BEST Linux desktop environment right now

CORRECTION FOR THE NEWS VIDEO:

Looks like Denmark's Ministry for Digitization is not in fact moving to Linux right now.
The original interview given by the Danish Ministry said that they planned to move to Linux, but this apparently was a misunderstanding between the Ministry and the outlet.

They've since corrected the article, they're moving to just LibreOffice, but not Linux, at least not in the near future.

Source for that correction: https://www.computerworld.dk/art/291812/caroline-stage-udfaser-microsoft-i-digitaliseringsministeriet-jeg-glaeder-mig-meget-til-at-se-hvordan-det-fungerer-i-praksis

Caroline Stage udfaser Microsoft i Digitaliseringsministeriet: "Jeg glæder mig meget til at se, hvordan det fungerer i praksis"

Allerede i næste måned begynder digitaliseringsminister Caroline Stage (M) at drosle ned for brugen af Microsoft i sit ministerium.

In this week's #Linux & #OpenSource News video, there's an X.org fork surrounded by some pretty weird controversies, we have Denmark beginning the switch to Linux and Open Source, and Google making changes to Android source code's release that will definitely make custom ROMs a lot harder to build:

I've been relying on the command line more and more recently to do some quick changes on my system, convert videos, and do some server admin, and I realized I had never really made a quick tutorial on the basics of the #Linux command line, so here we go:
