I had reason to break out my very brief tutorial on styling links and buttons today:
https://adrianroselli.com/2023/08/styling-links-and-buttons.html

I wrote it because I’ve encountered many devs who use the wrong element claiming they can’t style one or the other.

Styling Links and Buttons

I made a tutorial for styling links and buttons, something which many developers have struggled with (resulting in links used as buttons and buttons used as links). I have embedded it on this page, but if you are coming in with your RSS reader you can visit the tutorial directly…

The latest report on email accessibility reveals nearly 100% of tested emails have "Serious" or "Critical" issues. A huge wake-up call for marketers & developers to ensure #Accessibility

Seeing #CSS carousels being promoted as accessible again, so here is a periodic reminder:

#CSS carousels are not "accessible by default" https://www.sarasoueidan.com/blog/css-carousels-accessibility/

They are still highly experimental and there are still many open #accessibility questions & issues being discussed.

+The browser will not do everything for you—you'll still have work to do, too.

Are 'CSS Carousels' accessible?

What I Wish Someone Told Me When I Was Getting Into ARIA — Smashing Magazine

[Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA)](https://www.w3.org/WAI/standards-guidelines/aria/) is an inevitability when working on web accessibility. That said, it’s everyone’s first time learning about ARIA at some point.

Did you find a post from a follower that you really liked? If so, just boost it. That way other people have the opportunity to like it too.
It's such a simple thing and many gloss over it.
With non-algorithmic posts here, it's the only way it will show up for new people as there's no promotion or advertising.

Like it, boost it, pass it on.
So simple. So Fedi.

Thought this would be a fun inclusion for #AudioMow, this is my guide dog diesels normal wake up routine, it's always quite amusing :-) description was too long for the text description so I am including it here, We're looking down at a beautiful light-colored Labrador Retriever, maybe a golden-tan color, standing on a light gray carpet. The dog is in the center of the frame, facing slightly away from us and to the left. Its tail is wagging a little, and it's looking towards something off to the left of the frame. There's a white and gray desk or shelving unit with some dark objects on it in the background to the left. The lighting is soft and even.

Now, the dog turns its body and starts to move in a tight circle, still wagging its tail. It’s moving quickly, almost like it’s chasing its tail, but not quite. It spins around in a clockwise direction, and we can hear the sound of its paws scratching lightly on the carpet as it turns. The dog is very energetic!

It completes its turn and then lies down on its side on the carpet, almost as if it’s collapsing from all that spinning. It stretches out, and its body is now long and flat on the floor. Its legs are extended, and its head is resting on the carpet. For a moment, it looks like it's completely relaxed and maybe even a little sleepy.

But then, the dog suddenly rolls onto its back! Its paws are up in the air, and its belly, which is a slightly lighter cream color, is exposed. It wiggles around a bit, almost like it's trying to scratch its back on the carpet. Its tail is still wagging gently, even while it's on its back, showing that it's probably pretty happy and comfortable. Its dark eyes are looking up towards the ceiling, and it lets out a little huffing sound, like a contented sigh. The whole scene is very peaceful and sweet, showing off the dog's playful nature. - Made with PiccyBot,

@SteveFaulkner I was thinking of you while I wrote this “re-purposing HTML” section 🥰 https://www.tpgi.com/event-handling-in-jaws-and-nvda/#notes-on-re-purposing-html

Complications can arise with JavaScript event handling in screen readers, because the virtual cursor intercepts or modifies page events.

I took a closer look at three #aria attributes that I still struggle with sometimes:

I made a collection of 100+ CodePens related to ARIA. It's neither polished nor a collection of best practices. Just some examples for testing most (all?) properties, states, and roles.
