I died choking on a carrot - final proof healthy living is a scam. I wake up in a glowing lobby that smells like eucalyptus and unresolved emotions.

In walks God, looking more like a tired barista than a thunder-wielding deity: hoodie, sandals, coffee mug that says "#1 Creator." They give me a kind smile. "Hey" they say, "Ready to reincarnate?"

I squint. "Back there? You seen Earth lately?"

God shrugs. "I check in sometimes." "Well" I say, "you really should’ve read the comments."

My take:

The AI scam is a bubble. It's going to burst, and 99% of the "value" in it will evaporate. (There will be some utility in the 1%.)

There will then be demand for skilled human employees
who will be few, because unused skills atrophy and there's a crimp in the training pipeline.

Wages for those who can do stuff will spiral.

But there'll be a net productivity decline and a recession.

So: the long-term legacy of the AI bubble will be stagflation.

“The AI jobs crisis is here, now - by Brian Merchant” https://www.bloodinthemachine.com/p/the-ai-jobs-crisis-is-here-now > The unemployment rate for recent college graduates is unusually high—and historically high in relation to the general unemployment rate "AI" is killing entry-level jobs, which means that a few years down the line companies won't have senior labour to hire. This also shows that talk about “AI literacy” and “AI skills” is a joke. You’re not gonna need any skills if employers aren’t employing in the first place

Danish newspaper @informeren has a guide to leaving the #UStech giants in #SocialMedia behind this weekend. #DigitalSovereignty
Edit: not just social media, also email, browsers, operating systems and navigation apps among other things.

They do make the point that much of the web is also on US infrastructure though too...

Hey!

Do you make stuff? Are you doing threads about your work in progress (WIP)?

Any stuff.

Software's my jam, but I follow people who make lace, cabinets, music, drawings, food, articles & books, videos, photos, paintings, boats and planes model and real, people who make anything, to be honest, anything but hate.

I like it when you share the WIP, and I am not the only one who does.

In fact, following along folks as they work is often one of the most pleasing parts of my day.
