Twisted Pine (My Heart's in the Highlands), Scotland (2024).

This seemed a fitting image to share on Valentine's Day, as the first thing I saw from this viewpoint was the heart-shaped loch. The autumn colour this last year was absolutely exceptional — quite unlike anything I'd seen in Scotland before — and this location showed that off in spades.

Colorful Desert Symphony (2024)

The vibrant layers of autumn trees create a symphony of color, set against the muted desert tones of the understory. The golds and oranges glow with a fiery intensity, contrasting beautifully with the soft greens and purples below. This scene felt like nature’s celebration of the changing seasons, an explosion of life in an arid environment. Which colors in this desert palette speak most to you?

Over on the Instagrams, I recently shared some photos I've made in Oklahoma over the years. I received several comments and messages expressing surprise over the scenery... I, too, had some (very wrong) assumptions about Oklahoma's landscapes before my first photography trip there in 2019.

This set of 4 photos were all made at the same park in the southeast corner of the state.

Fleeting conditions in between squalls often give you little time to react. I was lying in my tent patiently waiting for the light to change. Suddenly, I hear my friend yelling "Morgan! You gotta get out here!" - I quickly got on my feet and practically waltzed over to this composition I found earlier and captured this rainbow in front of Mount Macdonald.

Do you prefer shooting alone for solitude or with others for shared experiences? Why?

What a difference one minute can make! Literally... these were made one minute apart, the only difference being a passing cloud partially blocking the sunlight in the first.

That first image is also this month's featured photo for my (free) 2025 desktop wallpaper collection, which you can grab via my Free Downloads page, if interested.

Hello Mastodon. Time for an #introduction !

My name is Alfredo and I'm a landscape #photographer from Denver, #Colorado.

I have been disconnected from photography and social media for the past 6 months or so. There was a point where I wanted to sell all of my gear and walk away from it all but slowly I started to regain the feeling of reconnecting with nature. So here I am trying to reconnect with a like minded community.

Though I created an #introduction post when I first joined the Fediverse back in November of 2022, a quick reintroduction is in order…

My name is Jason Coward. I am a #SoftwareDeveloper by trade and the Chief Architect of MODX, an Open Source CMS project I co-founded twenty years ago. I am an enthusiastic amateur nature #photographer, a #drummer, and a father. I live in Durango, Colorado with my son. I also enjoy #scifi, #poetry (especially #haiku), #cooking, and #hiking.

One of the photos I included in my #introduction post from the other day was quite well received, which is appropriate as it was from #Ireland. That's where I first found my passion for #NaturePhotography 10 years ago.

You can read more about my love for Ireland and how it led to my #LandscapePhotography journey here: https://www.michaelrungphotography.com/post/first-steps
