@michaelrussell @drumshaman I try to stick to the intent of alt text: descriptive for the sake of screen readers. But I'll still throw in some extra keywords, such as a location and usually "photo taken by Michael Rung" or something similar.
@drumshaman ah HA! I thought that read like AI. lol

Twisted Pine (My Heart's in the Highlands), Scotland (2024).

This seemed a fitting image to share on Valentine's Day, as the first thing I saw from this viewpoint was the heart-shaped loch. The autumn colour this last year was absolutely exceptional — quite unlike anything I'd seen in Scotland before — and this location showed that off in spades.

@drumshaman contrary to the alt text, isn't there a second mule deer closer to the center of the frame? Or is that an imposter log and twigs?
@michaelrussell kind of like stereotypical Kansas: flat plains. Which much of it is, but...
Colorful Desert Symphony (2024)

The vibrant layers of autumn trees create a symphony of color, set against the muted desert tones of the understory. The golds and oranges glow with a fiery intensity, contrasting beautifully with the soft greens and purples below. This scene felt like nature’s celebration of the changing seasons, an explosion of life in an arid environment. Which colors in this desert palette speak most to you?
@netopwibby thanks! I'd been wanting to get a good photo of that for a couple years, just needed the right light - and long enough lens - to pull it off. :)

Over on the Instagrams, I recently shared some photos I've made in Oklahoma over the years. I received several comments and messages expressing surprise over the scenery... I, too, had some (very wrong) assumptions about Oklahoma's landscapes before my first photography trip there in 2019.

This set of 4 photos were all made at the same park in the southeast corner of the state.

Fleeting conditions in between squalls often give you little time to react. I was lying in my tent patiently waiting for the light to change. Suddenly, I hear my friend yelling "Morgan! You gotta get out here!" - I quickly got on my feet and practically waltzed over to this composition I found earlier and captured this rainbow in front of Mount Macdonald.
