Kanji | Colorado | 2022
A fleeting moment captured handheld from my dining room window which faces north. It reminds me of Kanji which constitutes one of the systems to write Japanese language. I guess I should have used my macro lens but instead opted for my 100-400. I just feel more comfortable with it.
A Slow Burn | Colorado | 2022
This is a companion piece to my first photo montage that I created called "A World On Fire". It expands on the theme of climate change and how our natural world is in a slow burn.
The part that looks like smoke is actually an image of water that I used. I feel like water is quickly becoming one of our most important natural resources.
Khumbu Icefall | Colorado | 2021
Ambiguity of scale can help express different ideas in an image. It can help engage the viewer's imagination.
On the Nepal side of Mount Everest, there is the treacherous Khumbu icefall which is a section of the Khumbu Glacier that is constantly moving. Everest climbers must navigate it to summit Everest. Crevasses here can be as deep as 150 feet (45m)!
Close Encounters | Colorado | 2022
When I was driving into my local state park, I noticed the long shadows cast from the barren trees from the early morning sun. How would I go about capturing such a busy scene as the light poured around the trees? The elements I wanted to portray included diagonal lines intersecting with vertical lines from the trees, alternating light and shadow, and a bit of motion and ethereal quality from ICM to create this final image.
Sheltered | Colorado | 2021
Ichigo ichie (一期一会) is a Japanese idiom that means "one time, one meeting". I take it to mean that every moment is fleeting and making the most of every encounter. How often have you driven past a scene that catches your attention and imagination but instead of stopping, you tell yourself you'll stop on the return home. Then if you do stop, the light is somehow different or the scene doesn't have quite the same unique qualities. The moment has passed.
Hello Mastodon. Time for an #introduction !
My name is Alfredo and I'm a landscape #photographer from Denver, #Colorado.
I have been disconnected from photography and social media for the past 6 months or so. There was a point where I wanted to sell all of my gear and walk away from it all but slowly I started to regain the feeling of reconnecting with nature. So here I am trying to reconnect with a like minded community. My website can be found here https://alfredomora.net
Alfredo is a published fine art landscape and nature photographer from Denver, Colorado offering custom order fine art prints. Alfredo seeks to create expressive images with a focus on intimate landscapes and enjoys connecting with nature through the experience of discovery.
