like for context one of these interviewees stated they saw children being forcefed crappy food to the point of puking then having their faces shoved into the puke-covered food to continue eating. another said they were beat with a stick until bloody for ducking when the headmistress of the work cabin tried to slap them for speaking Finnish, then got beat more in the morning for bleeding on their bedsheets.
it's wild reading interviews from Finnish people in northern Sweden talking about how they were physically and mentally abused at government run work cabins as children in the 40s/50s/60s and then also reading people trying to explain it away as "just normal child discipline" in columns in newspaper a few decades later
