"We don't even need Georgia!"
"Let Texas freeze!"
"If [Southern State] elects [politician I don't like], then they deserve what they get!"
Please try very hard not to be this person. This language gives people the impression that you don't care about the most vulnerable people, beyond their ability to vote for things that make your life more comfortable. I know you may not mean it this way.
Georgians need Georgia. No one deserves to freeze. It's OK to care about other people.
weeeeeeeeeelp

According to Katie, I have:
* fun typing (coding?)
* passionate typing (political posts?)
* business business business typing (work!)
She’s not wrong…
It’s never healthy to tie your identity to things. Nothing lasts.
Jobs end. Businesses fail. Projects whither or are replaced. People are fickle, move on away from you, and - is the case with everyone - eventually die.
Don’t fear impermanence.
Mourn, briefly, things that are lost that may not happen again. Celebrate what you have. Have hope for the future and what new things may come your way. Enjoy living, as much as you can, and keep being kind to others.
So, I wrote a large-ish blog piece on #mastodon yesterday: https://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/202x/2022/11/10/Mastodon
I think some here might enjoy it.
But this morning I added: “This piece is mostly positive on Mastodon. But in view of this twitter thread from Chanda Prescod-Weinstein, I’m very uneasy about recommending for mainstream use until such point as the community figures out how to prevent this kind of dumb shit.”
