"We don't even need Georgia!"

"Let Texas freeze!"

"If [Southern State] elects [politician I don't like], then they deserve what they get!"

Please try very hard not to be this person. This language gives people the impression that you don't care about the most vulnerable people, beyond their ability to vote for things that make your life more comfortable. I know you may not mean it this way.

Georgians need Georgia. No one deserves to freeze. It's OK to care about other people.

@mekkaokereke And minority populations of any state deserve no less than the majority population of your state.

@mekkaokereke That’s always been the irony, whether a domestic or international issue. The people using that voice seem to fail to realize that the rich & powerful will NEVER suffer the pains of their poor decision making.

That shall always flow down to the communities powerless, poor.

@mekkaokereke Indeed. There are blue dots in red states who need our support. And, in every state, the most vulnerable of society must never be forgotten. If we start talking like human beings are disposable, we sound like the other side.

@mekkaokereke It is easy to fall into a "WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT TO THEMSELVES!?!?" trap. It's never as simple as you think it is.

The senator for where I live is DEEPLY hated here and still won by 27,000 votes. We want better. I'm guessing that the folks in [insert southern state here] want better as well.

@mekkaokereke We need everyone to work together to make this a more perfect union. We can do this working together.
@mekkaokereke Yup. Texas, Florida and Georgia aren't Red states. They are states where gerrymandering and other voter suppression is effectively supporting the Republican party.
@mekkaokereke Thank you. Also, when condemning the entirety of a "red state", folks who don't live in one seem to forget we little blue dots are already under duress. We don't want to or need to be further under fire. For example 3.5 MILLION Texans joined the battle for Beto. Please don't write us off, too, while saying texas can go to hell.

“"Lol we don't need Warnock" is what people say who haven't worked in Congress and don't know how it works. Here are the differences that 51st Senator can make, just off the top of my head: 1/x”

Twitter
@mekkaokereke Especially because the majority in states like GA and FL and TX seem to want progressive policies and leaders, but are held down by the gerimandering and voter suppression of a win-by-cheating minority.

@mekkaokereke

I'd extend this to rejecting sanctions against whole countries. Most of them, anyway. So many vulnerable people have no choice but to stay where they are. :(

@mekkaokereke one thing I know we don’t need is Walker.

And Warnock is such a legitimately good dude. Why wouldn’t we want to fight for him?!?!? Like please, he’s worth fighting for on his own merits and extra worth fighting for to prevent Walker for winning his seat.

@mekkaokereke as a blue dot in a purple state, I thank you for this post.
@mekkaokereke Exactly! Also, given the levels of voter suppression in those states, it's amazing how close the races are. So many people in those states deserve our support and applause, not condemnation.
@mekkaokereke 🎯👍🎯👍🎯
We need Warnock in Georgia and our Government
@mekkaokereke Southern states = large populations of Black, Indigenous, Latino, Hispanic, & Mexican populations. It's the white supremacy that lurks in white liberal spaces by people that crown themselves allies. I'm convinced these people don't actually care about marginalized communities as they're so quick to throw these communities to the wolves just because we live in a state where the powers that be have made voter suppression a priority in their state legislatures.
@mekkaokereke ehhhh tbh though I do see why at this point it’s tempting to give up on Republican leaning states. Georgia is a purple state, it’s not really something to give up on. Texas though…I can have empathy for them while not going out of my way to help them over others who actually try to help themselves. Maybe I’m not being empathetic but most southern state Americans I’ve met don’t really want help.
@mekkaokereke Insert "states that are heavily voter disenfranchised"...
@mekkaokereke Truth. But there is one thing overlooked here: Even if you are safe and secure unless everyone is, no one is. The same tactics these states use to keep their people/ votes in line are coming to you as well... we all need help, and there is only one way to do it. Together ✊

@mekkaokereke

there's a lot of people who have no idea what it's like to go out there and vote every time knowing these motherfuckers have their thumb on the scale, and not be able to do a goddamned thing about it

@mekkaokereke this attitude drives me crazy, but it's so very very much like white liberals to cut off one person's nose to spite a third person's face
@mekkaokereke I'm so tired of hearing all the hate aimed at Floridians. I've lived here my whole life and have voted straight Dem ticket in every election. It hurts when I read Democrats in their blue states saying stuff like they hope we all drown from climate change, etc.
@mekkaokereke Not only do we need Georgia, Georgia deserves better than Herschel Walker as a senator
@mekkaokereke — bless you for saying that.
