Fire all your guns at once

or in other words, launch migration. Bye, mastodon.cloud, and thanks for all the fish.

Hey everyone, this is to alert that I will be switching instances later this evening and become @timbray

If you’re following me, you *should* be dragged along and see no real change. But sometimes things break. So if I seem to go silent (and that’s not an improvement) you might have to re-follow.

If I’m following you, I’m using Masto’s nice export/import and that should take care of itself too.

All this may take a day or two to complete, they tell me.

See you on the other side.

Except, ha-ha, while it works in the Masto compose window, it doesn't work in my feed display. *Sigh*. The future, unevenly distributed as usual.

Really first-rate crypto-skeptic article: https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2022/12/cryptocurrency-ftx-collapse-dirty-bubble-media/672440/

I don’t think it says anything that hasn’t been said by others (including me) for the last 5 years or so, but James Block is articulate, eloquent, puts it better than most of us have. Reading it might help you warn friends away from crypto.

[Now wondering if I’ll get swarmed by cryptobros like I would on Twitter…]

The Doctor Who Helped Take Down FTX in His Spare Time

The fall of FTX shocked everyone. Except this guy.
