I ordered a book from BooksRun of Philadelphia, PA off of AbeBooks and was charged $15.67 COD for an "import fee" which they claim was charged by CBSA, but that is false. COD is distinct from import fees; COD amounts are both set by and recieved by the sender of a parcel. The sender says they didn't and don't.
DHL acted as a middle man here, so it's possible they did it. I've asked. They responded without answering any questions from a no-reply email.
The book's value is such that it typically would not be charged a duty. If it were, it would be half as much. I think someone is up to something shady here.
There's no way to leave reviews on AbeBooks, so I'm putting it out there on here. 🤷♂️
