@midnightspire Sorry, I only just saw this since I don't login all too often and I've had a very stressful few weeks since this post.

Personally, it's just that it now feels harder than ever to stay motivated when these trolls try to steal your own work by feeding it into an AI, making you never want to share in the first place, and if they're going to steal someone's work, at least put more effort into it than dropping sneak peeks into an LLM and going "pls clone this bc i have no decency lol"

Am I the only one who is getting tired of all of the negativity that algorithms shove on you nowadays?

I don't want to hear about how the world around me is falling apart or some other depressing garbage, I just want to have a nice, relaxing day.

Lately, I've been avoiding recommended sections more often because it's the only way I can keep myself from falling apart from the literal assault of stressful content that gets shown constantly.

Thoughts?

@midnightspire True, after I posted this and sent my reply to @mika, I did think some more about it and took a look at other people's perspectives as well, and I think I'm going to try and share my work when it gets to a point where I feel it's ready, but I'm also going to try and refrain from leaking too many details so it can't be ripped off as easily.

@mika For me, my fear is when it gets to the time where I need to start marketing the game and advertising it so that people actually know about its existence.

I hate the idea that any tiny little sneak peek could be thrown into an AI and used to rip the entire style/concept based on all of the content shown so far.

@ghosttie I think I'll probably start looking into how I want to go about posting early footage/previews of my project once it finally gets going.

Sadly, at the minute, I just have an idea and not much else, but I'm hoping to turn it into something at the least.

Thanks a lot for the advice/help, really appreciate it.

@ghosttie My main fear is someone stealing my existing early work/screenshots and then rubbing it in my face with AI-generated garbage.

I know it's pretty silly, but it's still an awful situation to end up in and I really do not cope well in these cases unfortunately.

Issue is; Right now, one side of me is going "just share the work, man, how are you going to release a game with no following?", and the other is just utterly paralyzing fear of having said work be stolen, so it's hard to decide.

Looks like this was a good decision to make this year given the recent stuff with Bluesky. Thank god.

To anyone currently making their own game, I'd like to ask if anyone else has had this sort of gripping fear when considering publishing anything on their project early with the rise of AI lately.

I've had an idea in mind for a while now but I'm afraid to share anything about it bc of AI, and as a result, I've just not had any motivation to work on the project, since I feel stuck in my options/choices.

The fear of having my work plagiarized is utterly paralyzing and I hate it.

Decided to check Bluesky for the first time in a while, they've announced their own AI tool, and the CEO is being replaced with a venture capitalist, great.

Guess I'm moving to Mastodon full-time now. What a way for them to fumble the bag.

@scottcarlson For me, it's a privacy/moral problem, there is proof that AI has been trained on copyrighted content via piracy archives, not to mention the obvious problem of sending all of your source code to these massive companies so they can steal it for more AI training.

I also love writing software, even if it's pretty basic stuff that I write, it's fun seeing everything come together after writing it all out with my own two hands, I don't enjoy roleplaying a manager and prompting an AI.
