The Upper Midwest is going to be hit with extreme cold weather the next few days, with wind chills as low as -40 degrees. I urge everyone to take the warnings seriously.
Here are a few tips from a Yooper:
-A single layer is not enough, wear 2 pairs of socks, 2 shirts, 2 pants, etc. Yes, even if you're just going out to get the mail or shovel the sidewalk quick.
-If you travel by car, go put blankets in your car. Right now, before you forget. And don't go anywhere without at least a half tank of gas, it could quite literally mean life or death.
-Wrap old clothes around any pipes that run along external walls. Make sure you know where your water shutoff valve is.
-Make a plan to notify someone when you go outside, and again when you arrive at your destination. Use the buddy system.
-Know your route and area. Check where the closest warming center is, and then check for a backup in case there's a power outage.
-If you are exposed to the elements and any of your limbs get soaked with water, it is an emergency. Treat it like you just got stabbed and call for help immediately, every minute counts.
-One of the first symptoms of hypothermia is confusion. This is why having a plan is paramount. Don't rely on being able to make good decisions or strategize. Have a plan in place every time you step out the door.
It's Girl Scout cookie season, so here is a list of trans Girl Scouts you can buy from!
The list is long (yay!), but I'd recommend reading the bios and finding someone to support who hasn't already met their goal so we can help as many of them meet their goals as possible.
If you're overwhelmed by the list, this is my second year supporting Elvie and they're only at about 25% of their goal right now so I’m sure they'd appreciate your support!

When I Bookmark something, it's just for me.
When I Like something, it's just for me and the person who made the post.
When I boost something, it's because I want to share it with others.
There's no software in the background recording and evaluating my behavior so it can decide the best ads to show me, and what I should see or not see in my feed to increase my engagement.
It's pretty nice not being the product anymore and just enjoying the web again.

"TransLucent's Freedom of Information investigations across 382 public bodies, covering a period of over three years, found only four complaints about trans women using single-sex spaces, conclusively demonstrating that this widely publicised concern as part of the culture war against trans people is not supported by documented evidence from service providers."
