Today's song of the day, from the 1982 film Cat People π
Best bit is about 1:45 in:
"And I've been putting out fire...
With gasoliiiiiiiiiiine"
David Bowie at his silliest! ππππ₯
My #songoftheday is a 16 minute suite for string quartet. Absolutely love Caroline Shaw's 'Plan & Elevation'.
From the program notes:
"Each movement is based on a simple ground bass line which supports a different musical concept or character."
"We end with my favorite spot in the garden, βThe Beech Tree.β It is strong, simple, ancient, elegant, and quiet; it needs no introduction."
Glad to see that Y Gwyll, cyfres un a dau are back on iPlayer in Welsh (and presumably have been for a little while). Netflix has the English version but I've wanted to watch it yn Cymraeg since I first saw it. Such a good show!

Holy moly. This is gonna be a time sink of massive dimensions. Much of the Boston Public Library's vinyl collection digitized on archive.org
Lots of stuff you know and lots more you don't.
If you are even remotely interested in the collection or preservation of folklore materials I would urge you to watch this presentation from Michael Fortune.
This is exactly the sort of thing that we do at the Folklore Library and Archive too. We are running an ongoing project to audio record interviews with people about their past. If you are interested, please let me know and I'll give you more info.
'Bore da, draig!' π This #ADoorableTuesday, a bit of detail from the old 13th century church doors at Worfield, Salop. Like all good medieval church fixtures they were at one point appropriated by the local farm to use for agricultural purposes before being returned to the church in the modern day! A bit of casual 1770s graffiti top right.

#Golingo is now available in #Welsh. It's a free language learning village where you go round having interactive conversations in shops, on the bus etc. They are trialling it as a new language, so it'll be good if folk try it out & give them feedback, so they can add extra features. (I needed to login & *then* select Welsh as my target language - that might be because I set up an account a few months ago before it has been added.) #DysguCymraeg
