Hi, I'm Malachai (IPA: /ˈmæləkaɪ/) and I'm a 30-plus-year-old overweight programmer with delusions of (in)adequacy.

Privacy stuff, which I STILL shouldn't have to say: #nobridge #noai #nobot #noindex

Transphobic scientists are recruiting trans people for study.

Do not respond to requests from Lisa Littman, Ken Zucker, J Michael Bailey, James Morandini, Kevin Hsu, Paul Vasey, Ray Blanchard, Scott Semenyna or Alex Byrne.

Scientists Behind the "Social Contagion" Myth Are Recruiting Trans Young People For Study, Community Leaders Warn

The project is called AYAGDOS—brought to you by the same names behind “Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria” pseudoscience.

I don't care what you are arguing about, if you use the word "children" I tune you out. Children are people. I assume the word "children" signals a bad faith argument and a cheap trick to elicit a strong emotional response.

Now I'm curious how the data looks for us nerds over here on the fediverse: where do you register your domains?

If at multiple places, let's interpret this as if you were registering a domain today, where would you register it?

tackily if you don't mind boosting I'd actually like a lot of data on this I'm really curious!

@gintoxicating I got burned so fuckin hard by godaddy and will never again do business with them. I used google domains before I grew a brain, then switched to namecheap, but tbh I wish alt NICs became more popular so we could break out of the regulation hellhole we're in.
I'm up for recommendations on fidget-style trinkets that are actually good. Like, machinist level good if they're mechanical, or with brand name parts if they have clicky switches and levers.
I love to toy with stuff in my hands but I have stupidly unreasonable standards unfortunately.

@nadia I'm gonna be honest, the best fidgety thing I've ever had on my desk was a mouse ball. Like... A 90s computer mouse ball. I have a little coaster that sits on my desk and it has a lip around it and I can roll it around on it, but I also pick it up and toss it around between my fingers and stuff. They're very heavy for their size because they're basically an iron or steel ball coated in rubber for grip on thr mouse pad, so I can also weigh down a key on my keyboard with one if needed

Edit: they're also extremely high quality due to the requirements of being a mouse ball (must be very spherical and very smooth but also grippy) and have no moving parts to gum up or be loud or get damaged.

@simonzerafa well, those 1,000 resulting matter - antimatter annihilations release immense amounts of energy...

...for the mass of the input particles. Which - again - is hilariously tiny.

Worry more about bananas being used to conceal imports of something far more dangerous 🙂👍

@quephird Congratulations. You are now one of the chosen few who understand this joke:

[Edit: This has escaped containment. Feel the need to say not my image, no idea where I found it, glad y’all like it as much I as did!]

"AI is giving attackers a huge advantage!"

"Yes, it is. It's amazing how quickly it has destroyed dev, sec, ops, management, company missions and priorities, regulations, information literacy, and civil society, making everyone more vulnerable."
