Yesterday I upgraded and relaunched my foodsharing cupboard! Thought the new one looked more legit now, and also easier to handle. I moved it to a more visible location as well.

I set it up and refilled it... and again, within a day, someone took away the sign and moved it to bulk waste.

I don't think the concept is doomed - getting locals on board might do the trick (I suspect our janitor threw it away), but this is as far as I'll take the experiment for now.

Time for another update!

I moved the food-sharing cupboard to a new location and restocked it.

It's now part of a bus stop on a busier street, so I hope that'll both deter vandals (not entirely convinced by the raccoon hypothesis, might've been rowdy kids) and get ppl using public transport to notice it.

Btw the first time, at least ppl ate some of the food in there (namely the granola bars), so it wasn't all bad!

Update: bad news 🙁

It took less than 24 hours for people to trash the food-sharing-cupboard. They even made an effort to slash the packages.

I'll think about improvements - maybe a different location; maybe the cupboard isn't ideal for this sort of thing.

For the moment, I'm sad and a bit disheartened.
