@Julie I was watching a show of no real import, when an accomplished female chef, a leader in her profession, was having a conversation with a younger chef of no notoriety. The younger woman was speaking with this soft, whispy, trying-to-speak-but-not-be-in-anyone's-way voice. The older chef said to her, "You will speak from your chest."

This tiny, young, probably terrified younger chef veritably boomed back, "Yes, Ma'am."

I gasped. I watched one woman give another woman a voice in about four seconds.

When we do the whispy voice thing, what part of ourselves are we betraying? Who are we trying to make comfortable by our nothingness? And, are they worthy of us providing that comfort?

"You will speak from your chest."

"Yes, ma'am."

When he tried to get his case transferred out of Georgia state court to federal court, Trump argued he was entitled to do that because he was a federal officer performing his official duties. But now that he’s facing removal from state ballots under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which forbids officers of the U.S. who have taken an oath to support the Constitution but engaged in insurrection from holding federal public office, he’s claiming he’s not an officer of the U.S. He can’t have it both ways.

GOP Party Chair Ronna McDaniel said the party would support Donald Trump as their presidential nominee, even if a jury convicted of a crime, if their voters chose him.

The House GOP is once again doing damage to our economy. Moody’s has again issued a warning on U.S. debt, moving its rating outlook from “stable” to “negative.” Its report specifically cites the ouster of Speaker McCarthy and the length of time it took to replace him, plus the looming shutdown once again as the House GOP plays chicken on the budget. It is shameful and harmful. This brinksmanship must end.

Wow. A report by Roger Sollenberger from The Daily Beast reveals that the new Speaker, Mike Johnson, claims not to have ANY bank account or assets in his family worth $5,000. His financial disclosures for years have shown nothing. Is he really living paycheck to paycheck, or is he hiding his true net worth? I mean, the guy is in the top 12 percent of income earners. Something doesn’t smell right here.

Kevin McCarthy actually said this: “If we have to play into overtime to curb spending and secure the border, I’m prepared to do it.” Let’s get one thing straight. There is NO OVERTIME. Overtime means you shut the government down and don’t pay federal workers, including military personnel, for their service and time. What a joke. What a loser.
