Unlike 1+million government employees and military personnel will se their pay suspended, and getting back pay when shutdown is over requires Congress to pass a law ordering Treasury to pay lost the income. Really.
PS.- I was government employee during shutdowns in 1995. I was declared essential emoloyee, the sole employee in our office declared essential. I worked 7 days a week and amassed 60 overtime hours. Like all I got back pay but not the overtime. Payroll people ok'd but my boss killed it as budget saving.
